"Made in NC" features Stevenson Vestal (with video)

Stevenson Vestal has been featured in a "Made in NC" news segment on WGHP TV. You can see that video here. Our custom products are most definitely "made in NC" which of course also means "made in the USA."

Dave Stevenson and some of our talented Stevenson Vestal artisans take center stage in this video production. Dave fields questions from WGHP's Brad Jones and the two discuss the modern sewing workroom and how it must blend together new technology with Old World craftsmanship. Artisans are shown operating our automated cutting system as well as applying hand-crafting techniques in fabricating cornices, valances, draperies, shades, headboards, pillows and more.

We are proud of our artisans and we think you will be too when you see them in action. They are the heart and soul of our company. They truly make Stevenson Vestal great!

Stevenson Vestal Customer Jo Ann Alston Stars on NBC's House Smarts (with video)

SV customer and ASID award-winning designer Jo Ann Alston of J. Stephens Interiors in New Jersey has been featured on the NBC TV show House Smarts. We are pleased to share a link to a video clip from the show for your interest and inspiration about what other Stevenson Vestal customers are up to!

In the video we see a very nicely appointed Living Room featuring a Japanese screen, faux linen texture walls and tall drapery side panels enhancing a bay window. Jo Ann says her customer was "not afraid of glamour" and liked jewel tones.

The deep red leather surface of the coffee table certainly fits both those criteria. Jo Ann described the overall design as "Classic Modern" and said she intended for the room to have a serene atmosphere-a goal she certainly achieved with clean lines and a calming color palette.

Jo Ann is relatively new to Stevenson Vestal, but she has kept us busy. How has her experience been working with Stevenson Vestal? Jo Ann says she likes working with her Customer Service Rep, Donna Quiring because they have a "good back and forth" communication.

At Stevenson Vestal we have identified good communications as the hardest part of our job as a custom workroom, so we are very pleased indeed when we hear a compliment such as that!

July 4th Week Scheduled Shutdown

We will have
our customary scheduled shutdown for the week of July 4th. The workroom will be closed Monday July 4th through Friday July 8th. However, Customer Service will be available Tuesday through Friday of that week, during regular hours.

Delivery and pickups will be limited during that week. Please contact your CSR for details.

New Product Arrival: The Casual Pleat Roman Shade takes a bow

Reposted from September, 2010: Here's a new design we've added to our Stevenson Vestal line of published products: the Casual Pleat Roman Shade. This variation on the Casual Roman Shade features a small inverted pleat in the center along the top.

Necessity is the mother of invention, and we had a necessity. We discovered that our Safe-T-Shade lift system, which relies on battens which hold the shade in place horizontally, posed a special challenge to showing adequate "belly" or curving shape along the bottom of a Casual Shade, especially for shades 30" wide or less. In researching this challenge we came up with a few different solutions, but we like the Casual Pleat best since it offers a new variation on a classic design.

So when you are considering a Casual Shade for a narrow window especially, please consider this attractive alternative. This design is also available as a shade topper. A More Colorful (and Effective) Order Form, an Improvement to Digital Fill-in Form

Reposted from July, 2010: Check out our more colorful and improved Workroom Order Form. We've improved the functionality of the digital fill-in aspects of the form by color coding all the fields to show required vs. optional information.

If you're not using the digital version of the form already, consider this: You can make yourself understood clearly by typing your work orders instead of hand writing. And you can easily save paperless copies, and submit your orders to us by email rather than fax.

We have learned the hard way that the biggest challenge of your client getting exactly what she expects is accurate communication.
