Beautiful style from coastal Maine

Bonnie Weeman (seated) and
Louise Hurlbutt of Hurlbutt Designs
Designer and window treatment specialist Bonnie Weeman of Hurlbutt Designs in Kennebunk, Maine shared some site photos of recent residential and commercial projects the firm has completed in their signature minimalist New England style under the leadership of principal designer Louise Hurlbutt.

Shown here are draperies in a variety of settings and embellishments, as well as roman shades, and swags and cascades, all fabricated by Stevenson Vestal artisans here in Burlington NC, with communications and technical assistance provided by SV customer service rep Paul Serrano.

Ms. Weeman says about the partnership of the last several years between Hurlbutt Designs and Stevenson Vestal: “We are very happy we found you.” About her CSR at Stevenson Vestal, Bonnie says "Paul is great. He is quick with quotes, and I have no problem getting quote revisions."

Bonnie has worked for 8 years under principal designer and owner Louise Hurlbutt, and has become the window treatment specialist for the company. The following photos show several residential projects.

A color-soaked painting of islands on the water over a hearth of Maine granite are bookended by windows with Pinch Pleated Draperies featuring dark blue bands, all against a clean white and pale blue background.

A second view of this residence reveals the open floor plan expanding into the Dining Room, with gracefully curving chandelier and more Pinch Pleated Draperies to give a finished look.

This den, with blue Pinch Pleated Draperies, comes complete with whale! Family heirloom wood side tables and wood drapery rod with rings stand out against white bead-board walls. Newly upholstered furniture complete the refreshed look.

Hurlbutt Design opened up this room by removing the former flat cieling to raise the interior space right up to the angled roof-line. Pinch Pleated Draperies with orange bands on wood poles dress up the whole room.

Aqua-colored Top Tacked Draperies on white wood poles and rings plus a Roman Shade with vertical bands add contrast to pastel peach walls and furnishings in this soothing bedroom.

A closer look at the same bedroom, showing the Roman Shade in the dormer window, the corner of the poster bed, and Top Tacked Draperies in front of a window bench seat.

Commercial projects also play a big role at Hurlbutt Designs. The following photos show several projects in local inns and hotels.

Warm, sunny colors and grasscloth welcome visitors to the Grand Hotel in Kennebunk, Maine, with a gold and gray color palette. Pinch Pleated Draperies out of a silver and gold embroidered fabric create a truly elegant and grand atmosphere.

A second photo of the Grand Hotel shows a tall dormer with angled ceiling and sitting area, and the custom draperies carefully fitted into the space framing French doors and a beautiful view.

A third photo of this same room gives further hints of the spectacular views from the of Kennebunk, which Bonnie Weeman and Louise Hurlbutt would tell you is "one of the most beautiful places in the world."

The Old Fort Inn of Kennebunkport posed a challenge in the knee-wall that prevented the use of floor-length draperies. Instead, Bonnie Weeman chose Gathered Swags and Cascades in a neutral fabric to give casual style to these windows against a brick wall.

A second glimpse of a seating area and more Gathered Swags and Cascades at the Old Fort Inn of Kennebunkport.

Finally, cool mint green walls surround windows with striped Pinch Pleated Draperies on white wood poles at the luxurious Tides Beach Club in Kennebunkport, Maine.

At Stevenson Vestal, we make it our mission to add more function and beauty to the world. We are pleased to have business partnerships with amazingly talented design professions such as Bonnie Weeman and Louise Hurlbutt of Hurlbutt Designs to turn our quest into reality. Thanks so much to them for sharing these incredible results!
